DMX Let Loose, Posts Bail in NY
X (born Earl Simmons) was initially slated to post a $25,000 bond as set by White Plains City Court Judge Barbara Leak on Thursday (June 29). He was jailed when unable to come up with the sum. The Yonkers, NY rapper was taken back to the jail to take his jewelry and be processed before being freed around 2 p.m.
According to reports, X didn't leave the jail without making an impression on the officers. He was reportedly "mouthy and disrespectful" to officers when he woke up and was told he had to hop on a court-bound bus at 8 a.m.
"He felt that he did not have to appear in court and became very agitated, mouthy and disrespectful," Deputy Correction Commissioner Joseph Miranda told The Journal News. "We sent the Emergency Service Unit to his cell, and they talked to him and convinced him that he needed to go. I guess he wanted to sleep late or something."
There was no physical confrontation between X and the guards, according to Miranda.
As previously reported, a New York judge issued an arrest warrant for DMX after he missed his June 29 court date. X was scheduled to face Judge Leak on Wednesday (June 28) over numerous driving charges relating to an arrest in White Plains, NY, last May. He was stopped in downtown White Plains for driving his 2001 Chevy Suburban at unreasonable speeds and making unsafe lane changes.
DMX was also cited for carrying a concealed handgun outside a nightclub in Scottsdale, AZ on Friday, June 16, was ticketed for causing a car accident in New York on June 11 and arrested at Heathrow airport for verbal abusing an airline crew on May 15.
DMX is slated to return to City Court July 24 and is due to appear in Harrison Town Court on August 29.
