Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliott Score 4 Nods Each for 2006 BET Awards

ImageBusta Rhymes and Missy Elliott each received four nominations for the 2006 BET Awards, which were announced yesterday (May 16) in Los Angeles.

The two rappers will go head to head in the "Video of the Year" category, and will get a chance to share an award, if Busta wins the aforementioned award and the "Best Collaboration" award, all thanks to the "Touch It" remix.

Individually, Busta will contend for the Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and the Viewer's Choice Award, while Missy will contend for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist.

Jamie Foxx and Mary J Blige also received four nominations. Other artists who garnered multiple nominations included Kanye West, Slim Thug and T.I.

This year's ceremony will be hosted by actor and comedian Damon Wayans and will feature performances from Mariah Carey , T.I., Blige and Kanye.

R&B legend Chaka Khan will receive the BET Lifetime Achievement Award and Harry Belafonte will be honored with the BET Humanitarian Award.

Last year's BET Awards was the most-watched program in the network's 26 year history with 6.6 million viewers tuning in to watch the ceremony.

The 2006 BET Awards will be aired live from Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium on June 27.
