T.I. Cancels Japan Trip, Returning to Tour Next Week

ImageAfter recently being arrested and tragically losing a close friend earlier this month, T.I. has chosen to cancel a planned 10-day tour of Japan.

As previously reported, T.I. (born Clifford Harris) was briefly jailed on Wednesday (May 10) for failing to perform community service stemming from a 2003 arrest at a Florida mall. A week before the aforementioned jailing, the rapper lost Philant Johnson, his friend/personal assistant, in a Cincinnati highway shooting after a club performance.

T.I. was scheduled to leave for Japan yesterday (May 14) to promote his new album, King, but according to his spokesman, the rapper "opted to stay home instead in the wake of recent events."

"I think everybody decided it's just a good time for him to take this week and regroup," Jonathan Leonard, an entertainment attorney for T.I., told The Associated Press on Friday (May 12).

According to T.I.'s official website, the rapper will resume his U.S. tour on May 24 at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California.
