T.I. Brings "ATL" To Houston, Premieres Film

ImageThe anticipation for T.I.'s motion picture debut in ATL has clearly been set high as some of Houston's most prominent rappers couldn't help but attend the movie's red-carpet premiere which took place at the city's Cinemark Tinseltown 290 on Monday (March 20).

Among those who appeared at the premiere were T.I., Pimp C, Lil' Keke and Trae, among others.

"It's a Southern thang," Lil' Keke told reporters. "We support Atlanta in Houston and Atlanta supports Houston right back."

ATL, which opens in theatres nationwide on March 31, centers on four friends who have just graduated from high school in Atlanta. The movie was directed by acclaimed music video director Chris Robinson and also stars Big Boi.

"This is huge," explained T.I. "I get love from Houston and I want to give it right back."

In related news, BET will air a special on ATL titled "ATL - The Movie & the Music" on March 27. The special will give viewers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the movie and the music featured in it with interviews from T.I., Chris Robinson, composer Aaron Zigman and music supervisor Julia Michels.

As SOHH previously reported, T.I. will release his album King on Tuesday (March 28). The album features appearances from Jamie Foxx, UGK, Young Jeezy, Young Buck, Pharrell and Common.
