Plies Preps Sophomore Set, Links W/ Ne-Yo

Less than one year after debuting his certified Gold LP, The Real Testament, Florida rapper Plies is prepping the release of his sophomore album, Definition of Real. Led by buzz track "Bust It Baby, Pt. 1," the Ft. Myers, Florida native's street single is already stirring things up at radio and hip-hop's underground. As part one to the two-part single, the song peaked at #69 last week, after 3 weeks on Billboard's Hot R&B/ Hip-Hop Airplay charts.

This week, Plies personally presented the second installment, "Bust It Baby, Pt. 2," featuring multi-platinum crooner Ne-Yo, to radio across his home state. Part 2 is the first official single off the sophomore set.

Debuting at # 2 on Billboard's Top 200, Plies 2007 debut, The Real Testament, recently received RIAA gold certification. After 30 weeks on the charts, Plies' debut ranked last week at 140 on the 200 charts and #10 on Billboard's "Top Rap Albums" ranking. In addition, to his chart-topping record sales, Plies has also mastered ringtones. For 23 consecutive weeks, a minimum of five tracks from the, The Real Testament, was present on Nielsen's Ringscan "Top 200 Mastertones" chart.

The string of good news is a change of pace for the embattled rapper. Plies' manager David Lee Gay, Jr. was arrested last December after police found 80 pounds of cocaine in his possession.

In other news, after a series of failed performances last year, Plies has partnered with Don Diva Magazine for the upcoming "Plies/Don Dive Prison Tour." Currently featured on the cover of the "Original Street Bible," further details on the tour will be announced shortly.

Plies' Definition of Real is scheduled to hit stores on June 24th.
