Kanye West & Lupe Fiasco Join Bonnaroo Music Fest
According to Billboard, the Louis Vuitton Don will be one of more than 100 bands and 20 comedians performing on 13 stages at the four-day event. Among those set to perform are Lupe Fiasco and Talib Kweli as well as Metallica, Pearl Jam, Willie Nelson, the Allman Brothers Band, M.I.A. and B.B. King.
Jonathan Mayers, president of Superfly Productions, which is co-producing Bonnaroo, had this to say about the performers, "I actually feel like it's one of our strongest lineups to date, and it strengthens our diversity within our programming. I know we still have a lot more to add, too, so I'm excited about it and feel like we're going to have a very successful year."
Mayers is also hoping the assorted lineup will spark some new musical interests.
"We're in a position to help introduce people to new things, and hopefully the audience is open-minded and will discover what's out there," he said.
The seventh incarnation of the festival - which occupies 700 acres of farmland - will take place from June 12-15 in Manchester, Tenn., about 60 miles south of Nashville.
Tickets go on sale at Bonnaroo.com on Feb. 16 at noon.
In related news, Ye already has a Glow in the Dark tour in the works. Though no dates have been specified, Mr. West is reportedly set to hit the road with Def Jam labelmate Rihanna, N.E.R.D. and Lupe Fiasco.
