Jay-Z Picks New Hip-Hop Anthem For The NJ Nets

ImageJay-Z is scheduled to pick a winner in the contest to introduce a new theme song for the New Jersey Nets today (March 13).

Word is approximately 600 aspiring rappers entered the contest. New York radio station Hot 97 and the Nets have reviewed each submitted song and picked three finalists. The winner's name will be announced on Hot 97 today.

Hov became part owner of the New Jersey franchise back in 2004, joining real estate developer Bill Ratner and several other partial owners to put a winning bid of $300 million.

The group plans on moving the Nets to Brooklyn in 2010. Ratner is still hoping to gain public approval on an arena to be built in Downtown Brooklyn. The venue would be surrounded by 17 skyscrapers in a $3.5 billion commercial and residential development.
