Mary J. Blige To Touch Down At Super Bowl Concert, Recruits Ne-Yo & The-Dream For Latest CD

 Mary J. Blige will be performing at the upcoming NFL Pepsi Smash Super Bowl Concert Series in Arizona.

As part of the festivities leading up to Super Bowl XLII, there will be a concert series which will kick off with performances from Blige and Maroon 5 on Thursday January 31 at 7:30 p.m. Latin group RBD will perform Friday February 1.

Both nights will be held at the Arena in Glendale Arizona, and the series will be taped and air as a one-hour special on VH1 Saturday, Feb. 2 at 9 p.m. EST.

Last Sunday (Dec. 2) the NFL announced that the legendary rock band Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will perform in the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLII Halftime Show on Sunday, Feb. 3. Super Bowl XLII will be held at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.

In related news, after missing a few previously projected release dates, Mary J. Blige is preparing for the fourth quarter release of her latest album Growing Pains. In anticipation of the new album the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul graces the cover of the December 8 issue of Billboard Magazine.

Growing Pains, which is Blige's 8th studio album, follows the success of last year's phenomenally successful release The Breakthrough, which garnered her eight Grammy Award nominations and three awards.

Growing Pains features appearances from Ludacris, Usher and Busta Rhymes and production from Bryan Michael Cox, Jazze Pha, Tricky Stewart, The-Dream and The Neptunes. Ne-Yo also wrote and co-produced several tracks for the project.

Growing Pains will be released December 18 via Geffen Records.
