Man arrested for stealing $3 million in jewelry from Drake tour bus
A 21-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning for stealing about $3 million worth of jewelry from Drake's tour bus Tuesday night.
Travion King was arrested by Arizona State University police for trespassing at 3:30 a.m. near the Barrett Honors College on the college's Tempe campus. He was found with the jewelry, which reportedly belonged to the rapper's DJ, Future the Prince.
Investigators said the thief targeted a briefcase on the artist’s tour bus "filled with some pretty pricey jewelry and other items."
Police have recovered the jewelry, and said they would be working with the victim to account for everything.
Video quickly surfaced online of the moment Drake found out about the theft at the Talking Stick Resort Arena.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, the way the crime went down shows it was likely someone familiar with the territory since the tour busses were parked in the lower garage of the structure.
"We're talking about somebody who knew the layout or was able to gain access or to get back there unnoticed,” said Sgt. Vince Lewis.
According to police, King "had done contract work with local venues in the past."
It happened about 10:15 p.m., where only minutes before fans of all ages were singing along to hip-hop artists' songs.
