G -Eazy Says Drake is the Best Rapper
G-Eazy sat down with Larry King in an interview released Friday (April 1) in order to discuss his career. During the interview presented by Ora.TV he was asked who the best rapper is currently.
“Drake,” G-Eazy says in the video.
While on Larry King Now, G-Eazy also addressed his favorite young artist in the game.
“Vince Staples,” G-Eazy says.
After rising up the charts with “Me, Myself and I,” he says that it has been a long journey to get to the top.
“It’s definitely been a long, long…. long, long, long, long, long journey since I was selling burnt CD’s out of my backpack in downtown Oakland,” G-Eazy says. “Um, but you appreciate it more, you know? Sometimes the longer it takes, you hope it lasts longer. I mean, it’s been a process. It’s been a long time.”
The success of his recent album When It’s Dark Out was a surprise to some.
“I think the last one surprised a lot of people,” G-Eazy says. “Besides me and my team nobody really saw that coming. No one was expecting us to do all that, but we’ve always kinda been counted out, you know? Always been outsiders, always been a little different, but I've always just believed in it. This is all I’ve ever loved, all I’ve ever known, and when you don’t have a plan B you gotta make it work sooner or later.”
He says when a song is good he just feels it.
“You feel it, you know?” G-Eazy says. “If music makes you feel something… there is this whole thing- there is no formula or guaranteed cheat code. There are certain things you can do, but music has to give you a feeling. You know, it has an intangible magic and that’s the special part about it. You either feel it or not and know if it’s a hit or if it’s just not a hit.”
