Kendrick Lamar & Macklemore Up For Album Of The Year & Best New Artist Grammys

Rap music will be well represented at the 56th Annual Grammys with two of the hottest young Hip Hop acts vying for two of the night’s biggest awards. Both Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have been nominated for one of the most prestigious honors in music – the Grammy for Album Of The Year.

Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d. city and Mack & Ryan’s The Heist will compete against Sara Bareilles’ The Blessed Unrest, Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories, and Taylor Swift’s Red for AOTY. The Black Hippy member and the duo from Seattle were also nominated for the Best New Artist award with James Blake, Kacey Musgraves, and Ed Sheeran.

In the Best Rap Album category, newcomers Kendrick and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis go against past winners Kanye West, Jay Z, and Drake. Macklemore/Lewis is also up for Song Of The Year for “Same Love.”

Only two Hip Hop albums have won the Grammy for Album Of The Year. Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill in 1999 and OutKast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below in 2004.
