Stalley Says Tracks From "Honest Cowboy" Were To Be On His Next Album
Stalley talked about how tracks from Honest Cowboy were originally slated to be included on his album and said DJ Quik mixed the tape.
"I got DJ Quik on there, he mixed the records for me," Stalley said when asked about veterans on the mixtape. "The project was well put together, we put it together like an album. A lot of the records was going to be on the album but as I started to make more music, I started weaving certain records out so I just wanted to make sure I gave back to the fans. They've been supporting and waiting for a while and Honest Cowboy is here."
One of the standout tracks on the album so far has been "NineteenEighty7." Featuring ScHoolboy Q, the song has been a fan favorite as Stalley broke down the meaning of the track.
"We from that era, me and ScHoolboy from '87, that era from the 80s and the track just felt like 1987," he said. "The beat just felt like some old, just gangsta, 1987, N.W.A., Snoop, whatever... Just an ill West Coast vibe so, when I wrote the track I was actually in L.A. and I just felt like it."
