DJ Drama Gets His Hustle On, Signs With T.I.'s Imprint

DJ Drama signed a worldwide distribution deal with T.I.'s Grand Hustle Entertainment and Atlantic Records this week.

The Atlanta DJ gained Dirty South celebrity status with his hugely popular Gangsta Grillz mixtape series, which also spawned a radio show and a DVD. Drama, who gained notoriety as T.I.'s DJ, has been busy for the past few years building rappers' street cred in the South with the series. Everyone from Lil Wayne and Bun B to P. Diddy and Big Boi have hosted mixtapes.

In November, he won DJ of the Year and Best Mixtape for Gangsta Grillz at Radio One's Dirty Awards in Atlanta.

"Gangsta Grillz means so much to the South and to the game, so people should expect nothing but the best," said Drama via a statement. To date he has released over twenty editions of the popular series.

Having been tour DJ for the likes of underground queen Bahamadia and Lil' Scrappy, Drama has tried to bring a diversity of Hip-Hop styles rarely seen on the mixtape circuit.

"To be able to get a major record deal from pushing mixtapes in the streets is a great feeling for me as a DJ," he said. "I did it my way, and I am being rewarded greatly for that."
