Beyonce Dominates BET Award Noms, T.I. & 50 Cent To Perform At Event

 The nominations for the 2007 BET Awards were announced yesterday (May 16) and Beyonce leads the pack with six nominations.

The press conference was held at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood with the nominations being announced by T.I., 50 Cent, R&B crooner Robin Thicke and actress Tichina Arnold. The awards are set to air live on June 26 from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and actress/comedian Mo'Nique will be returning to host the festivities.

The awards will consist of 14 categories that will honor those in the worlds of film, sports,and music, with Beyonce up for several coveted awards this year, including best female R&B artist, best collaboration (with Jay-Z on "Upgrade U" and "Déjà Vu"), video of the year (for "Irreplaceable" and "Beautiful Liar" with Shakira) and the viewer's choice award.

Other artists receiving multiple nominations include Jennifer Hudson, Ciara, Akon and Gnarls Barkley, who all received three nods. Meanwhile Robin Thicke, Ludacris, Diddy, Ne-Yo, Mary J. Blige and the late Gerald Levert all receive two nominations. Two special awards for lifetime achievement and humanitarian will also be given out during the event to Diana Ross and actor Don Cheadle respectively.

The event will also feature performances from T.I. and 50 Cent, among other artists who will be announced in the coming weeks. In a new addition to the show's format, for the first time, fans will get the opportunity to vote on which song they want to hear 50 perform at the awards. The G-Unit boss, who will be releasing his highly anticipated album Curtis on the same day of the awards, will premiere two new videos for the singles "Amusement Park" and "Straight To The Bank" today (May 17) on "106 and Park", after which fans can vote on which of the two songs they'd like to see the Queens-bred rapper perform.

The BET Awards will air on June 26 live from Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium.
