Rihanna Gets Busy With Jay-Z, Preps New CD
Bajan beauty Rihanna is back at it again, preparing to unveil her third album in two years. The Def Jam chanteuse has announced plans to drop that as-yet-untitled project on June 5. The first single for the project, "Umbrella," is scheduled to make its worldwide debut today at 5 p.m. EST on www.rihanna.defjam.com. The track, which was produced by C. Tricky Stewart features Hov dropping a few bars.
Rihanna's latest project follows on the heels of 06's A Girl Like Me, which included chart-topping hits "S.O.S." and "Unfaithful."
In addition to her third album, Rihanna has further cause to celebrate this summer - the West Indian songstress is also stepping into her new role as a CoverGirl spokesmodel. This June, the makeup line will release the first ads featuring Rihanna, who now joins the ranks of such beauties as Tyra Banks.
"I've loved makeup and dreamed of being a CoverGirl since I was a little girl," Rihanna said via statement. "Growing up, my mother was a makeup artist and I was fascinated watching her apply lipcolor, blush and mascara. Now I get to be surrounded by all of my favorites from CoverGirl!"
Embraced worldwide since the release of her 2005 album Music of the Sun, Rihanna's 2006 album A Girl Like Me landed the Caribbean queen four Billboard Awards. In addition to her musical pursuits, Rihanna is also the creator of Believe, a public charity organization devoted to aiding terminally ill children worldwide. Founded to assist and inspire young people struggling with life-threatening illnesses like AIDS, cancer and leukemia, Believe works to raise money and awareness for medical research as well as medical care.
