Beastie Boys Member Adam “MCA” Yauch Dead At 47
Beastie Boys member Adam “MCA” Yauch was pronounced dead at age 47.
The rapper was being treated for a cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node.
MCA’s actual cause of death has not been revealed.
Bill Adler, former executive for Def Jam while the Beasties were under the label, said, “Adam Yauch as a young man may have been the ‘Beastiest’ of the Beastie Boys. Certainly, he was the angriest. In the wake of License To Ill, it was MCA who transformed himself the most. He evolved from his youthful punk rock anger into a peace-loving meditator. I personally was very inspired by his example.”
MCA co-founded the Beastie Boys in 1979 with Mike D, Mix Master Mike, and Ad Roc.
He is survived by his wife and daughter.
Last month, The Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of f
Fame, but MCA was not present at the ceremony in Cleveland.
