Family Holds Vigil For Slain DJ Carl Blaze

The family of DJ Carl Blaze is asking for friends and supporters to join them at a candlelight vigil being held in his honor this Friday, February 23.

Two months since his tragic death, family members of DJ Carl Blaze will mark their loss with a prayer vigil at the Manhattan address where he was critically wounded. Carl Blaze (real name Carlos Rivera) was a DJ at New York's Power 105 station; he passed away on December 23, weeks after being shot 13 times as he was leaving 578 Academy St.

Rivera's family has asked that friends and supporters join them outside the building this Friday, February 23 at 6 p.m. to pray in honor of Rivera and speak out about the incident that took his life.

"Justice must prevail. We need everyone to come out and make a statement. Carlos was a good father, a good husband, a good brother and overall a good man and justice must be served," reads a flyer for the scheduled event.

Police have not arrested any suspects in connection with the incident. Only 30-years-old at the time of his passing, Rivera is survived by his wife Yvonne and two children.
