Fans Pick Winners at MTV VMA Awards

Last night MTV held their annual Video Music Awards (VMAs), where viewers across the world hand clicked their votes in to the MTV polls, picking their favorite artist's videos.

Across the net several appearances and performances were highlighted and talked about repeatedly.  Memorable moments included Jay-Z and Kanye West's surprise performance for their song "Otis", Lady Gaga dressing up as "Lady Gaga's boyfriend", Beyonce showing her stomach after being pregnant for several months, Russel Brand, Tony Bennett and Bruno Mars paying tribute to Amy  Winehouse and Lil Wayne closing out the awards with an unforgettable guitar smashing performance.

Clad in what appeared to be leopard print pants, a white t-shirt, bright red shoes and some shades, Wayne closed the awards show smashing his guitar and revealing the lash over his left eyebrow suffered last week during a skateboard accident.

Tyler the Creator took home "Best New Artist", as his mom video taped and sat with the young artist known for making headlines with his outlandish statements and antics.

Katy Perry took home "Best Video", for her song "Fireworks", while she also won "Best Collaboration" with Kanye West for this radio friendly song "E.T.".  Nicki Minaj took home "Best Hip-Hop Video" with her hit song, "Super Bass".  Justin Bieber won "Best Male Video" for his song "U Smile", while Lady Gaga won "Best Video with a Message".

Chris Brown paid tribute to Nirvana and Wu-Tang during a performance that included him sailing across the crowd as he geared up to perform "Yea 3X".

Will Ferrel, Jack Black and Seth Rogan appeared as the "New Beastie Boys" facing off in a break dancing battle with Odd Future in which Tyler the Creator and family battled it out prior to presenting Nicki Minaj with her award of the evening.

Following the awards show at midnight Lil' Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" was released digitally.

Other performers and appearances in the crowd included Pitbull and Ne-Yo, Rick Ross Busta Rhymes, Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose, Baby and Slim from Cash Money, Adele, Kim Kardashian and many others.
