Jay-Z's 'Decoded' Snags Top Honors At Advertising Awards Ceremony

An advertising campaign featuring Brooklyn rapper Jay-Z won an advertisement yesterday (June 21st), at the Cannes Lions International Film Festival of Creativity.

New York based ad agency Droga5 won an Outdoor Lion Award for its Jay-Z "Decoded" advertising campaign.

Jay-Z teamed with Microsoft's search engine Bing to promote his autobiography, which was released in November.

Droga5 created an online game that gave clues to fans, who then went out and tried to find actual pages from the book, which were placed in a variety of places outdoors, for the fans to find.

In October in November of 2010 fans playing the game had assembled all of the pages from the entire book and posted it online, weeks before it was in stores.

The campaign also help Jay-Z grow his Facebook likes by over 1 million.
