Common And Celebrate MLK Day On "Rap City"

 In celebration of Martin Luther King Day, Common and The Black Eyed Peas' will appear on BET's "Rap City" today (January 15).

The Chicago emcee and the California rapper/beatmaker collaborated on a single titled "A Dream" which contains a sample of Martin Luther's "I Have A Dream" speech.

"When [] put Martin Luther King on there I was like, 'Man, this is special right here,'" Common said of making of the song. "I knew I just had to write my ass off. When you got Martin Luther King's voice on a song that just makes you have to perform at a great level. You gotta write something that's important."

The song is the lead single to the Freedom Writers soundtrack. The movie, starring Academy Award winner Hillary Swank, recently premiered in theatres.

In related news, Common is presently working on his seventh album entitled Finding Forever. Comm will also make his feature film debut alongside Alicia Keys and Ben Affleck in Smokin' Aces, which opens in theaters on January 26.
