'Stomp the Yard' dances to No. 1 finish with $22 million

 The dance movie "Stomp the Yard" has been a step ahead at the box office this weekend, debuting at number one and bringing in 22 million dollars.

The new entry pushed "Night at the Museum" into second place, which had spent three straight weekends at the top. The film's earned more than 17 million dollars, raising its total to nearly 186 million.

Will Smith's "The Pursuit of Happyness" was in the number-three slot, bringing in more than eight million dollars. "Dreamgirls" and "Freedom Writers" rounded out the top five.

The weekend's other new movies had ho-hum debuts. "Alpha Dog," a tale of drugs and murder, opened at number seven. And "Primeval," a thriller involving a serial killer, was number eight.
