E-40 & Too Short Wish Youth A "Hyphy Holidays"

Bay Area rappers Too $hort and E-40 have teamed with California's Alameda County and the City of Oakland to spread holiday cheer for Oakland Youth.

$hort and 40 are acting as co-sponsors of Youth Uprising's Second Annual End-of-Session Showcase and Holiday Party, celebrating the holiday season as well as the recent successes of YU members. Youth Uprising is an East Oakland-based organization offering youth-leadership opportunities, job-skills training and activities to primarily low-income youth aged 13-24.

This year's Holiday Showcase will feature performances from members of YU's media and performing arts workshops, who will offer DJ, dance and vocal performances. Members of YU's RiseUP Radio Broadcasting class will serve as hosts for the evening. In addition to raffle prize giveaways, YU members will also receive awards recognizing their achievements. Catering for the evening will be provided by Corner's Café, YU's youth-staffed eatery.

The event takes place on Friday (December 22) from 4:00 p.m. -7:30 p.m. at Youth Uprising (8711 MacArthur Blvd, Oakland). Age-appropriate gifts and cash-donations to purchase gifts are welcome. Those interested in donating can contact Chloe Mays at (510) 779-9909 ext. 130 or [email protected]
