NY Radio DJ Carl Blaze Gunned Down, In Critical Condition
Blaze, who helmed Friday and Saturday evening slots on New York City's Power 105.1 (WWPR), is currently fighting for his life after being shot in what is believed to have been an attempted robbery in Uptown Manhattan. Doctors say Blaze is not expected to survive for more than 48 hours.
"It's time for us to come together as a family guys," said Power 105.1 producer Will 2 B via a statement. "One of our own, Carl Blaze, is in critical condition after being shot several times last night in what is being said to be an attempted robbery. He is fighting for his life and he could use as many prayers as possible. Doctors aren't giving him much time, but we all know the power of prayer. Carl is strong and we need to help him fight. As soon as we receive more info we will pass it along."
Blaze joined Power 105.1 in January of 2004. His mix-show can be heard on Power 105.1 on Fridays from 12am -2am and Saturdays from 10pm -2am.
Since the incident occurred, people have shown support to the fallen DJ by leaving their well wishes and prayers on his MySpace page.
